What is a plano-convex lens?

Plano-convex lenses is a kind of positive lens. Its main functions in optical systems include beam expansion, imaging, beam collimation, focusing collimation, beam collimation point light source, etc.

Plano-convex lenses features:
Plano-convex lenses have one convex side and a flat side, and have a positive focal length. They are usually used for applications such as narrowing the beam, reducing the focal length, or magnifying the image. In order to reduce spherical aberration, when a plano-convex lenses is used to focus a collimated beam, the beam should be incident on the curved surface of the lens; when used to collimate a point light source, the beam should be incident on a flat surface.


Plano-convex lenses have positive focal length and are commonly used in imaging or beam collimation applications. Coated lenses are also widely used in visible light and near-infrared applications.
